Canon RF 100mm F2.8 L IS USM Macro Lens

The Canon RF 100mm f2.8 L IS USM Macro lens for EOS R mirrorless cameras is similar in design to the popular lens Canon offers for its EOS DSLR cameras, although this version provides a larger-than-life 1.4x magnification. This feature is paired with a closest focus of just 26cm and a telephoto focal length to deliver a guaranteed macro photography powerhouse. Also notable in this lens is the bright f2.8 maximum aperture, which helps produce a good amount of bokeh, or background blur.

The Canon RF 100mm f2.8 L IS USM lens features Image Stabilisation, which means that users can attempt handheld close-up shots with overwhelming success. A dual Nano USM focus motor is also included in this lens, resulting in AF which is both speedy and accurate. As is the case with all L-series lenses from Canon, this macro lens is brilliant optically, thanks to its use of high-quality lens elements, and it is sturdy enough to be used with confidence in outdoor shooting conditions - it features a dust and water-resistant design.

The Canon RF 100mm f2.8 L IS USM lens is notable for its customisable control ring, which users can use to adjust key shooting settings such as ISO, aperture or exposure compensation - whichever best suits their workflow. Uniquely, this lens also includes a Spherical Aberration (SA) control ring, which can be used to vary the appearance of the background blur of photographs. For example, a softer focus effect can be achieved by turning this ring.
