Canon EF 100mm f2.8 L Macro IS USM

Providing the typically excellent picture quality of a Canon L series lens, the Canon EF 100mm f2.8 L IS USM Macro lens is brilliant for close-up work, promising to deliver first-class detailed results. The 100mm magnification, which is further emphasised when used on a crop-sensor body, allows you to get an even closer crop on your subject, without having to move physically closer. This makes it even easier to capture those detailed macro images of bugs, insects, flowers and other small objects, but also deems this lens suitable for tightly-cropped portraits.

A quality optical construction, typical of L series lensesThanks to the excellent L-Series optical design, the 100mm f2.8 Macro L lens produces images that are high in sharpness and contrast, with superb colour accuracy. The image quality on offer by this lens is so true to life, it will astonish you. Within the construction is an Ultra-low dispersion lens element which is responsible for maintaining this quality and for abolishing distortions and aberrations.Paring up with the large f2.8 maximum aperture is the 9-blade circular aperture diaphragm, which ensures the out-of-focus areas that you create in your photographs are of the highest quality. This smooth and creamy bokeh will have you shooting at wide-open apertures all day long, creating beautiful images consistently.

Hybrid Image stabiliser - allowing for tripod-free macro shootingAllowing for free and easy shooting, this lens features Canon's excellent 2-stop hybrid IS system. This image stabiliser allows you to shoot detailed close-ups without the need for a tripod or monopod. Camera shake will not be present within these images within reasonable shooting conditions, meaning you can even shoot when the natural light becomes dim, utilising the Hybrid IS system and the wide-open performance of this L-series lens.
